One doesn’t stop seeing. One doesn’t stop framing. It doesn’t turn off and turn on. It’s on all the time

The bravado of great hip hop artist is often felt through their lyrics. It’s often used as inspiration by those of us that are products of a hip hop generation. Being able to identify who or what validates a movement provides credibility to the movement. While listening to Young Jeezy’s Standing Ovation from the Thug Motivation 101 album, he boasts “I’m your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper…” At that moment, it was something about the cockiness and the swagger dripping from those lyrics that ignited the movement! “I’M YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS’ FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPHER.” A claim as such will undoubtedly have to be backed by visual proof, some of which you have already been privy to within previous post, with that being said…follow the movement!   Peace & Enjoy -J

Vixen Workout in SOBE: Story Nightclub

Energy, in its rawest and most human form is what we got a chance to check out this time. Many would argue that the HOTTEST workout regimen right now is without a doubt The Vixen Workout! Creator, Janet Jones and her Vixen Army took Story Night Club on Miami Beach by storm one Saturday afternoon and what an adventure it was.  It’s something about being behind the scenes of something of this magnitude that is extremely captivating. The Vixens packed the venue from wall to wall with an insane level of kinetic energy that resembled that of a “HYPED” Hip Hop concert and capturing those moments proved to be quite interesting and sometimes challenging with the multiple light scenarios. The goal was to catch the emotion of the energetic environment, using every angle the club had to offer. There is no standing still once the music starts. Getting that perfect shot while surrounded by women who are determined to change their lives in these workout sessions was a workout in itself. Sharing the space and feeling the energy of Janet, her instructors and the entire army of vixens young and old was invigorating. Capturing that essence in photos was my sole priority. You have instructors like Devona Wu, who originally started as an army member talk about her first workout “I felt alive, inspired and determination coursing through my body.” Alive Sherman, a member of the army had this to say “I’ve always loved dance, this has brought back the life within me.” To capture such an impactful and life changing experience and be able to replicate the energy and the environment through visual art is where the magic happens. Peace & Enjoy...

Being behind the lens when some of the most memorable moments are captured isn’t something that’s new to me. So…let’s take a look at how some of those moments come together. The cool thing about behind the scenes footage is that it gives you a more comprehensive look into a creative process. Check out this video of NBA star Dwyane Wade’s most recent lifestyle shoot directed by Elite Media Concepts. One thing to note is the environment. The selecting of a location is one of those things that if not done successfully, can make or break a shoot. Photopia Miami studio located in Little Haiti definitely fit the bill. Let’s take a look at how some of those moments came...

The Journey Continues…

The chances of a photographer being able to capture moments that are both relevant and entertaining is usually what drives them to do what they do day in and day out. This along with other things I’ll bring your way, are guaranteed to be visually appealing as well as inspiring and thought...
